Cost: free – however, cash donations will be collected at the door
All donations will go directly to James Hunt and his family to help with medical and living expenses while both he and his wife are on leave. They, along with their 16 and 8 year old children, hope to return to their jobs and house when his medical condition and the police investigation have progressed.
Mr. Hunt was driving to school early the morning of April 9, on a two-lane country road in Robeson County, when another vehicle approached him from behind, pulled alongside, and fired a shotgun blast into his face and hand. This act was nothing less than an attempt on Principal Hunt’s life.
In the following months, Principal Hunt has been living away from his home due to ongoing medical treatment at Duke University Hospitals in Durham. The bills are piling up. Worker’s Comp has denied the claim stating that it was not a work-related injury. He has received over $50k in surgeries, and there are more to come. Those costs, as well as living expenses, are coming out of the family’s pocket. There have been no arrests to date in this case.
